Family Dreamcatcher Hanging
Family Dreamcatcher Hanging is a beautiful and unique handmade wall hanging, bespoke to you and your families preferences.
These are perfect for smaller houses, or people who share a room. Or even as a gift for a couple on their wedding day etc.
Each one starts with a live branch which has been cleaned up and sanded a little, so make it look beautiful yet still natural.
Then everyone picks their favourite colour, and each person has their very own dreamcatcher hanging from the branch.
You can then pick a colour you all like, or a plain colour like black, white or brown, to tie the whole thing together.
Size of Family Dreamcatcher Hanging
Each Dreamcatcher hoop is 25cm, but the actual size of the whole thing will vary depending on the amount of dreamcatchers. I can make it smaller or bigger if you wish, please message me for a more custom order.
I have only listed between 2 and 6 Dreamcatchers, but will happily do as many as you’d like. Again, just message me to discuss.
1. Due to colour calibration of individual screens, the colours in the photos may be slightly different and not 100% true to real life.
2. Measurements are done by hand, so please allow for minor discrepancies.
3. Postage and packing is free however, delivery times may be longer because of covid19
4. This is a bespoke item, made to order, and can take up to 6 weeks to make and post to you.
Dream catchers look beautiful anywhere, and make great talking pieces, especially at large sizes. The stories of the original dreamcatchers talk of them being made for babies out of willow and sinew – hanging above their cot like a cot mobile, entertaining them as they sway in the wind.
Some believe that dreamcatchers should be placed above the bed (whether hanging on the wall or from the ceiling), like the original ones above the babies beds – others believe they should be placed in the window.
The beliefs in the way dream catchers work vary too – some believe the bad dreams catch in the webs, while the good dreams slide down the tassels and into our minds – with the first rays of the morning sun, the bad dreams disappear, leaving the web ready to catch more dreams the next night. Others believe that the bad dreams pass through the web, while the good dreams are caught and slide down into our minds.
There is also a large belief that dream catchers represent good energy and help to neutralise bad energy – whether you are awake or asleep.
Some people believe that if it catches too many bad dreams, and is not cleansed in moonlight, the web will snap. Though the original dreamcatchers were not meant to last – eventually the willow would dry out and the tension of the sinew collapses the dreamcatcher. That was meant to symbolise how temporary youth is.. Adults should use dreamcatchers that are stronger to reflect their “adult dreams” and last longer.
Whatever your believe, the spider like creation will be a real standout piece.
