A Lovely Silver & Black Pearl Clematis Leaf Pendant

Each Silver Clematis Leaf Pendant is individually Handmade by us here in the Scottish Highlands.

We start by picking the fresh Clematis leaves from the garden, then we work on reproducing each little detail. Therefore each leaf pendant we make has its own special character, just like the leaf we use!

We’ve made this Silver Clematis Leaf Pendant with a cabochon of Black Lipped Pearl shell, a lovely little touch of the ocean!

This leaf measures approximately 5.5 cm. It is on a lovely blue silk ribbon cord of approximately 46cm (18″) with a sterling silver clasp.

You will receive this lovely pendant in one of our gift boxes, which are made of recycled card by a UK company. We aim to dispatch in 3 – 5 days.

The Pendants & Earrings that we make using real leaves are among our favourite items of jewellery. So if you love the leaves of a particular tree or plant, just ask & we’ll see what we can do !

How We Make It!

All of our Handmade Silver and Bronze Items are made using a substance called Metal Clay. Consisting of very fine, recycled metal particles that are mixed with an organic binder it makes a material that looks and feels much like pottery clay.

This clay is air dried first, then it is fired in a kiln, at temperatures exceeding 800 degrees Celsius.  This process causes the binder to burn away and the metal particles to fuse together.

The result of this firing is a new piece of metal in whatever shape we happen to have sculpted or moulded it. It’s simply magic!

Any piece of Silver marketed in the UK, that is over a weight of 7.78 grams, has to be tested and Hallmarked by an official Assay Office to be sold legally. So, as we are registered with the Edinburgh Assay Office, our heavier creations bear our personal Hallmark.

Commonly Sterling Silver is the most widely seen form and is 925 parts silver in 1000, the rest being cooper, which is added to give the metal more strength. Therefore, our chains, earring wires and other findings are sterling silver and are purchased from UK companies.

However our own handmade elements are of a purer quality, being .999 or .960 Silver.
