Silver Strawberry Pendant
This special Silver Strawberry Pendant has a lot of love put into it…… because strawberries are my favourite fruit!
So I made it by using real strawberry leaves from the garden!
I have treated it with a solution that artificially antiques the metal. The reason for this is, it makes the detail of the leaves, little strawberries and flowers stand out more.
We have put this pendant on an 18″ black leather thong with a sterling (.925) clasp.
Supplied in a gift box made of recycled card.
We are registered at the Edinburgh Assay Office, so this pendant has been Hallmarked there as .999 Fine Silver.
How it’s made
We make our Handmade Silver and Bronze Items using a substance called Metal Clay. This consists of very fine, recycled metal particles, that are mixed with an organic binder. This makes a material that looks and feels a bit like pottery clay.
When we fire this clay in a kiln, at temperatures exceeding 800 degrees Celsius, the binder burns away and the metal particles fuse together. This results in a new piece of metal, in whatever shape we have sculpted or moulded it. It’s like magic!
In order to be sold legally in the UK, any piece of Silver marketed here that is over a weight of 7.78 grams, has to be tested and Hallmarked by an official Assay Office. So we are registered with the Edinburgh Assay Office and our heavier creations bear our personal Hallmark.
As you might already know, Sterling Silver is the most commonly seen form and is 925 parts silver in 1000. The rest is cooper, which is added to give the metal more strength. Therefore, our chains, earring wires and other findings used on these pieces are sterling and purchased from UK companies.
However our own handmade elements are of a purer quality, being either .999 or .960 Silver
